What a Weekend!

Wednesday started our weekend with a bang. Wyatt got tubes back in January and it is very rare to get an infection. He woke up Tuesday night screaming and arching his back. I wasn't sure what was wrong, so I gave him ibuprofen and got him back to sleep. That morning his ear was oozing. The doctor couldn't see the tube so either his tube is still there and he couldn't see it because of the goo or his eardrum burst. Poor little guy!
Thursday, we went up to my mom's for Thanksgiving. We had a delicious feast, especially the pie! Ryan had to leave early to go to work. I started getting sick with a sore throat, chills and body aches. I must have gotten the placebo flu shot. ha ha.
Ryan went out at 4:30 to hit the Black Friday deals. Thanks Ry!
Saturday we had an interesting family party with my mom's side. You just had to be there to understand. There was vomiting, pants splitting out, unique entertainment (I can't find the right word for it), and complete chaos, you name it--it probably was there. :) I also had quite the dye experience with my mom. My hair had blond highlights, then bright red (just imagine a Christmas tree ornament), then back to brown. It was probably the first time I have cried over my hair. Thanks, Mom for doing my hair and trying so hard to please me. It's a tough job, just ask Ryan.
Today, we went to church. I had to post these pics of the boys today. This was the first time Wyatt has posed for me and said "cheese". Obviously, Carson didn't want his picture taken, but is loving taking pictures all by himself. He took the one of me. He is becoming a good little photographer. Carson got the tie and belt for his birthday. He has to wear the belt every day and the tie every Sunday whether it matches or not. :)

Another Bike Story

Yesterday afternoon I decided to hook up the kids and take 'em for a bike ride. Ryan usually hauls them, but I figured I'm a tough chick and I could do this. I started out around the neighborhood and thought, hauling 100 pounds of kids and trailer isn't too bad. So I asked the kiddies if they wanted to go to the park, of course, they did. So, I picked a great time when the road was the busiest with people picking up their kids from school. It was great because I had an audience. The park is in a neighborhood not too far from us, but there is a hill up to the park. It's a pretty steep hill, I mean, when you are in a car, it doesn't even seem like a hill, but gosh, on a bike with 100 pounds behind you, it feels like freakin' Mt. Everest!

Cars were backed up waiting for me to get up this hill, so I was trying to pedal as hard and as fast as I possibly could. My legs were about to give out. I started having chest pains, and I swear I may have had a mild myocardial infarction (heart attack) even though Ryan says I didn't. I was praying no one would recognize me because I was in disguise with my hat and sunglasses. We finally made it to the park. I threw the kiddies up into the swings and laid down in the bark hoping to not vomit. After about five minutes, the spots I was seeing, the ringing in my ears, and my chest pains resolved. We did have a fun time at the park and the ride home was actually fun (because it was downhill).

I told Ryan this story and he laughed then told me I need to haul the kids more often. Is he saying I am out of shape? How rude! :)

Projects

We were at my parents house last month and Ryan offered to fix up my much much older sister's bikes so the grand kids could ride them. Sorry, Teresa, the old pink one is now red. We took them out for a test ride on Saturday around the neighborhood. It was so fun! They sure don't make bikes like they use to. I should have take before pictures. Ryan really did a great job! Here's to the vintage Schwinn banana seat bikes. Groovy!

Sick! Sick! Sick!

Warning: This may make you queasy!
Dear Wyatt,
Tonight, you were playing in the tub and I was sitting on the floor reading through the mail. You started drinking the bath water, like always. I told you to stop. Then you started climbing out of the tub. I got up to catch you before you ran away and noticed you pooped all over in the tub. Your poopies were floating all over. Then I noticed you had a little bit of poop on your forehead. I really hope you didn't eat your poop. Forgive me for not paying more attention. I'm sorry! And please, don't poop in the tub ever again!
Love,
Mom

Tis the season

Teresa, my mom, and I all bought the same tree on clearance last year. It is so pretty, but it did take Ryan and I almost three hours to get it set up. It is huge compared to the four foot one (his name was Charlie Brown) we have used for the past six years that took me about 15 minutes to put together, string lights and decorate. I highly under-estimated how many decorations I need. Good luck Teresa and Mom (definitely mom)!

Ryan

Some things I love about you...
You are a great dad.
You work so hard to support our family.
I am happy when we are together.
You keep our home looking beautiful on the inside and out.
I love it when you play with the kids--you'll even sit in our redneck hot tub in the back yard.
Sometimes you are so funny, I have to cross my legs.
I love it when you sing.
I know you care most about me and the kids.
I love your smile! You are so handsome!
We always have something to talk about.
You make me feel pretty.
I love it when you call me to see how I am doing.

You make my day when I come home and you have cleaned the house and made dinner.

I am so proud of all you have accomplished, especially being the first one in your family to graduate with your degree. (Weber State is Great, Great, Great!)

I know it is not easy, but thank you for being so devoted to me and for trying to be better. Thank you for being patient as I try to be better myself, too.

Happy Anniversary, Ryan! I love you!!!

(I started this yesterday, but is supposed to post tomorrow. Someday I'll figure this out.)

Another one bites the dust...

This isnt' a very good picture because Ryan cleaned out all of the yellow crusties before he let me take his picture, but Ryan now has pink eye. He also has a sore throat, so he is pretty much on his death bed. When men get sick, it seems so much worse than when we get sick. Women still have to take care of the kids, the house, and of course, our men.
Wyatt fell so I ran over to help him and stubbed my toe on Carson's foot. I can't believe that broke my toe! I must be getting brittle as I approach the third decade of my life. That's the second toe I have broken this year.

The last thing that "bit the dust" this week is my hair straightener. I can't believe after only a few years of using it that I have forgotten how to do my hair without it. Now I am sporting the hot slicked back pony tail from my drill team days. It's totally hot. Can't wait until Costco ships me my new Chi! Merry Christmas, Brit!

Ouch!

Carson woke up very grumpy today. He was crying because he didn't want to go to daycare. Well, he got his wish. I received a call after I had seen only one patient that they thought Carson had pink eye. I ran over to pick him up and sure enough! Here's the proof. I had a full schedule and we couldn't find anyone to come fill in for me, so Carson got to stay at work with me today. So, thanks to my awesome boss, she set him up with movies and even bought pizza for all of us.
On a second note, I just wanted to thank the daycare for spreading diseases to my kids, kicking them out when they get sick, and still charging me for a full day. Gotta love being a working mom!

Carson

Today I wanted to spotlight Carson. He cried for the first few months of his life. The only thing that would get him to stop is running the vacuum. Carson then became a pretty good kid until Wyatt was born. I think his two's were hard, the three's got a little worse, but now we are hoping for the "Fabulous Four's"! He really is a great boy. Unfortunately for him, I am inexperienced and just learning as we go. Here are a few fun facts about our Carson Man!

1. Carson is loves to play games and is really fun to play with.
2. He is very smart. He started writing his name on his own. This picture is of the first time he wrote his name with sidewalk chalk. It was the first part of the summer and I thought he did a great job. He loves being read to and won't go to bed until we have read together.
3. Carson loves to play outside. He got his "motorcycle" when he was eighteen months and it has sure been used. He has been making motorcycle sounds ever since. I was worried he was going to have this deep, rough voice for the longest time!
4. I love it when Carson plays with Wyatt. It is fun to watch them learn to play with one another. Carson also watches out for Wyatt and is quite protective of him when other kids are around. I guess he thinks he is the only one allowed to beat on him.
5. Carson loves school. He loves to learn. Right now he is working on sounds of letters and really wants to tie his shoes all by himself.
6. I love Carson's imagination! He loves being a superhero. He flies around the house with blankets and shoots imaginary webs at us all of the time.
7. He is a great helper. He loves to help me make cookies and is so good at cleaning up (even if I had to bribe him).
8. No one really knows this about him because he is a little shy, but Carson sings so well. He remembers songs that he has only learned a few times and has a good little voice.
9. Carson has a really cute personality. He is so funny and makes us laugh. When I try to take his picture, it is no longer a smile, but a silly face. Silly boy!
10. Carson is a very loving boy. He says the best prayers. He loves his cousins, grandparents, family, and friends. He is all boy on the outside, but has a sweet, tender side on the inside. Carson is a very important part of our family and we love him so much!

I'm back!

Last week, I went to Milwaukee to some classes for our ultrasound machine. We have only had the machine a few months, and after we learned the basics, GE sent us out to get more training. The classes were great, and I learned a lot. The first night they had a reception for the group. I was the only one NOT drinking. I have never been in this kind of situation before. I know your shocked! I am quite the party animal. Anyway, this lady I met from Canada asked me if I would like her to get me a drink. I politely declined and the girl that went out there with me (she knows that I don't drink) told "Miss Canada" that I was her designated driver. "Miss Canada" said that we were taking the shuttle and that I (me) could drink too. So, I was thinking to myself what I was going to say when she asked me again and the Friends episode popped into my head when Rachel was deciding whether she should tell a guy she wasn't drinking because she was a Mormon or that she was pregnant. Well, just my luck, Miss Canada asked me again if I would like her to get me a drink and I declined, again. She then asked me if I was pregnant. I fumbled out a "I'm not quite sure". Now, I know I should have been straight up. I am not ashamed of what I believe in, but I really didn't want to be ridiculed and feel judged the rest of the trip. I was also thinking to myself how I want to tell my kids that I never drank alcohol and hopefully they will be strong enough to resist temptations and make good choices.
I came home being a little more patient with my kids. Maybe I should leave more often. :) I missed them so much! Thanks Mom, Michelle, and Ryan for your help with the boys!

Tagged Twice

I got tagged twice last week from my sister Crystal and my friend Sara. The first one is to share six random things/unspectacular quirks about myself so here it goes.

1. I always throw away the last inch or so of the banana because the pokey thing at the bottom grosses me out.

2. Ever since my friend told me about the umbilical cords in eggs, I have to fish them out before I can cook with eggs.

3. I have to straighten up my house before I can go to sleep. If I don't, then I lay in bed and think about what I didn't do and won't fall asleep. This drives Ryan crazy!

4. I sing in the car every where I go. I know I look like a big dork, especially when I see people laughing at me, but I can't help it. I just can't kick the habit.

5. I hate people being mad at me and am constantly paranoid that someone is. I am a huge people pleaser.

6. I can't let my food touch on my plate and I eat all of one thing on my plate before I eat something else.

Wow! You sure are getting to know me, huh? The second tag was the top eight of the following:

What are your favorite TV shows?
1. I Love Lucy
2. Friends
3. Survivor
4. The Amazing Race (My goal is to be on this show one day!)
5. American Idol
6. So you think you can Dance
7. Dr. Phil (How old am I getting?)
8. Anything else is usually cartoons with Carson.

What are your favorite restaurants?
1. My mom's hometown cookin'
2. Texas Roadhouse
3. Ruby River
4. PF Changs
5. Cheesecake Factory
6. Olive Garden
7. Cafe Rio
8. Any place I don't have to cook! (I realize some of these places are pricey so we hardly ever go, but I am so sick of the places we usually go like Wendy's and Subway for $5 subs, that I can't even stand it!)

What are eight things that happened yesterday?
1. Carson came in at 6:20 ready to go for the day because of that awesome time change. Is anyone else feeling like it's time for bed at 7:00 pm?
2. Went to church
3. It was my turn for sharing time in Primary that I planned Saturday night due to my blogging addiction.
4. Updated my picture frames
5. Took a ten minute nap on the couch before the kids found me
6. Reheated left-over soup for a fancy Sunday dinner
7. Ate Halloween candy. Ugh! Still regret that!
8. Made a list of all I need to do before I leave this week

What are eight things you are looking forward to?
1. Christmas
2. Our anniversary this month! (A night without kiddies! Ooo la la!)
3. Vacations
4. Winning the Amazing Race
5. Having the baby girl Carson tells everyone is in my tummy. (FYI: This not an announcement. I am not pregnant.)
6. Sleeping in
7. The elections being over
8. Winning the thousands of dollars promised to me from Bill Gates from the email Teresa forwarded to me yesterday. :)

Eight things I love about fall
1. Cooler weather
2. Pretty colors
3. Thanksgiving & Halloween
4. Football season
5. Easier to sleep in
6. Cuddling (Ryan will only cuddle when HE is cold)
7. Hot chocolate
8. Won't have to shave my legs as often :)

So, there you go. You probably learned some things you'd rather not know. ha ha. I tag anyone who hasn't done either or both of these. It is quite fun. I would love to learn more about you, too!

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween and got way too much candy. Ryan spent hours carving these awesome pumpkins! He always does a great job. Wyatt was a train engineer, Carson was supposed to be an engineer too, but ended up being a fireman. Thanks to my mom for letting me borrow her gypsy costume--even though my little primary kids thought I was a pirate. :) Ryan was in charge of pictures last night and this is all I got. Silly boy!
